ENGINEERING PROJECTS
MARIMBA MALLET FATIGUE TESTER

Designed and built a machine to test the resistance to fatigue of yarn over time, utilizing a servo motor and a microcomputer.
3-D MODEL FOR BED FRAME

I was commissioned to create a 3-D model for a bed frame. The model was designed with consideration to the space of the room, integrated storage space, and preferred characteristics of the client such as a squared off backboard and extended lip around the frame.
VAN DE GRAAF FOUNTAIN

Engineering Challenge = Demonstrate a scientific principle to high school students.
The Result: A Van De Graaf Generator demonstrating the polarity of water molecules by building static on the spheroid metal and bending a stream of water flowing from the fountain adjacent.
I participated as team lead for component design and assembly.
LICHTENBERG MACHINE

Fashioned a homemade Lichtenberg machine using microwave parts and AC power. Once finished, I was able to utilize the high voltage to burn Lichtenberg fractals into wood pieces as shown.
MARIMBA MALLETS
Beginning as a money-saving hobby, I made marimba mallets as a middle school percussionist. By high school I was selling and customizing these mallets for my fellow percussionists. Now in college, my research has evolved from marimba mallets to material alternatives for percussion instruments.

RESTORATIONS
BAND SAW

I bought a Delta bandsaw, cleaned it up and restored it to full functionality, then added to my tool collection.
SOLDERING GUN REPAIR

I repaired a vintage Weller dual heat soldering gun that was previously owned by my grandfather. Got it back into working condition and utilized it in the repair of electronics.
LATHE

Currently working on restoring a Central Machinery wood lathe. I still need to buy a head lock, faceplate, and a few other parts to finish and ensure the safe operation.
HEAT TREATING FURNACE

Restoring a broken heat treating furnace to use when making metal tools and parts. I will rewire the power cord and replace insulation bricks to bring it to a functional state.
BENCHES

I have worked on many bench designs for my family and friends as gifts. Generally these have been mid-range projects with simple designs, but intricacy has increased with proficiency.
WOODWORKING
STORAGE BOX

I built a storage box focusing on space and aesthetic design. Once finished I gave it to my girlfriend as a gift to hold mementos.
COOLER STAND

I was commissioned to make a stand for a Yeti cooler. I designed a custom stand to accommodate for the elastic latching mechanism that required a greater space allowance to utilize correctly.
CANDLE HOLDER

I bought and repaired a cracked candle holder made of Bethlehem Olive Wood. Surface finished the project and made it a gift for my mother.
RINGS

One of the first woodworking projects I became proficient at was making rings. Small, simple, easy to accomplish with hand tools, but with the potential to become incredibly complicated, ring making was a hobby that led me to explore many different kinds of crafts.
MISCELLANEOUS
BOYSCOUT KNIFE

I replaced the handle on my father's old boyscout knife. Used brownheart wood and steel pins to restore the handle, then sharpened the blade before gifting it to him.
GLASS BLOWING

Expanding on my exposure to engineering crafts, I took a glass blowing class. I made glass ornaments that I was able to take home after tempering in an oven.
